On the 18th of September 2004, Gloria Martinez Alcozer, a freelance writer,
will set out from Jacksonville Florida on a 2,400-mile trek that will end in
San Diego, California - In an effort to inspire others to work towards
peace.

Thus far, over a dozen people from all over the world have united to support
the manifestation of this extraordinary trek.   The  astonishing feat is
that Gloria Martinez Alcozer, will begin and end this dangerous and long
trek across the southern United States entirely alone - While others join
her to support her along the strenuous route, of highways, mountains,
deserts and wilderness.

The trek will aim for 12 hour days, starting at 6am to 6pm with the goal of
covering 30 miles per day at an average walking speed of 2.5 mph. Beginning
at Intersection 1st. Street North & 1st Avenue at the Seawalk Pavillion
<http://www.jacksonvillebeach.org/> , Jacksonville, walking west through
Florida state, continuing on to; Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, New
Mexico, Arizona and finishing at, the Maritime Museum at San Diego Bay
<http://www.sandiego.org/> in California. The goal date of completion is the
18th, December 2004..

The objective of  ' A Walk for Man, A Walk for Peace', is to  promote global
awareness of the necessity for peace and resolution against violence..  And,
to pay homage to the losses of lives due to terrorist attacks (9/11) and
wars based on; religious, cultural, political and ideological conflicts.

Also, this US 2004 election year will embark on volatile political campaigns
that will concentrate on an array of issues and critical concerns.

                      *   911-Terrorist attack
                      *   Kidnapping and killing of:  American soldiers &
foreign business men
                           (e.g., Paul Johnson)
                      *   War in Iraq & the torture/killing/ humiliation of
civilians
                      *   Suicide bombings ( Palestinian/Isreali insurgence)
                      *   Madrid train bombings
                      *   Torture and killing of unpopular/non-affiliated
religious groups
                           within the Arab states


One voice, from one single person, may not always be heard over the
mountains.  But many can create a symphony of sound that can be heard across
the world. There is truly strength in numbers! Please support this walk!
