camping on the camino

Since this is a busy year(holy year and all) and places to stay are
expected to be at maximum capacity, is it common for pilgrims to use tents
and set up camp out in the countrysides? Are there many camping spots along
the route? Is there camping near any of the major cities? Has anyone camped
along this route and would like to share their experiences?
