Camino To Easy?

Is the Camino too easy or too hard? Is a question we all have asked
ourselves and it, of course, is subjective.

I was 64, overweight and full of enthusiasm when I started; after 2300 Kms.
and reaching Santiago; I was 64 1/2 years old and had lost 20 Kgs, but still
filled with enthusiasm. I did not feel the way was hard and would have
called it a medium walk.

I did train regularly for 6 months in all weather before starting out, I
took days off when I felt tired and I had the luxury of no time constraints.
In my planning I had scheduled an average of only 10 Kms per day (including
rest stops). Actually, I averaged over 17 Kms. per day for the entire
journey; the longest day was 37 Kms.

The Camino was not without a few problems and once in France did consider
buying a bicycle: due to the very hot weather and swelling of my feet, I was
plagued with blisters for the first month. Limping strained my knee and foot
and like many I took ibuprofen for the pain, but all this passed.

In retrospect, I would say that the Camino was not difficult for me, but
quickly add that it was not easy either; just like our lives there are good
days and some days that cause pain. We live through the difficulties to
enjoy the good because quitting is not an option.
