Just Want to Party!

Carlos makes a good point, and it would be wonderful if everyone could be as
conciencous as he plans to be, but that is not always the case. I remember
being kept awake late into the night by giggling adults on what must have
been their first night in a refugio. I also have a vivid memory of a crying
child in the cathedral at Santo Domingo de Silos, who was surely too old to
be held squirming in the lap of his father who was trying to restrain him
rather than miss any of the beautifully moving high mass. At first I was
annoyed, but then I realized that this was part of my experience of the
Camino and I shouldn't fight it. When I go back in 2004, I know it will be
an completely different experience – more crowded for sure, but less anxiety
producing due to familiarity.
Go in peace.
Susan
