Hello you all,
We all know about the terrible oil spill that devastated the Galician coast
and the human cost and suffering visited upon the inhabitants of the region.
The University of Santiago has announced that most of its students will do
volunteer cleanup work once their final exams are over next week.
Javier Agrafojo, the University dean of students in charge of coordinating
volunteer services, has announced that groups of student volunteers from other
universities, including fifty Italians from the Turin University, will be
going to Galicia to help out in the cleanup effort.
Furthermore, Mr. Agrafojo has been surprised by the number of Camino
pilgrims who have volunteered once they finish their pilgrimage. More than one
hundred by the middle of this month. His office at the University will continue to
arrange for the transportation to the coast and the housing there of such
volunteer pilgrims.
Mr. Agrafojo stated that here are no words to express the appreciation of the
Galician people for those pilgrims' concern and help.
Bless'em!
Rosina
