hey all,
i have been walking for about three weeks now and will finish in about 10
days. currently in astorga. i heard a lot of ´camino news´ before i left and
was a bit nervous by some of it. this is my second time, but a lot of what i
heard hasn´t been so. for example, people were saying that there are so many
people and the refuges are full by noon and you will be left without a place
to sleep. i think there is a possibility of galicia being that way, but so
far there have been no problems. people do leave really early, but that is
generally to beat the heat. only once did i witness a line forming a couple
of hours before the albergue opened, but almost every town seems to have
some type of overflow site where pilgrims can go. they allow people to sleep
on the floor too, so there will always be some place to stay. i do recommend
having a sleeping pad. you can buy one here in spain for 6-7 euros or bring
one from home. they are useful just in case you do have to sleep on the
floor or in case you decide to take an afternoon nap in the park. i will let
you know if galicia will be the same as it has been so far or not once i get
there. but if you are leaving soon and worried about having a place to sleep
don´t worry, just walk and have fun. take care. buen camino, kerrie
