Hello you all,
The University of Santiago announced the publication of a book
containing interviews with 18 pilgrims. The book was edited by the Association of
Reporters and Scholars of the Camino de Santiago.
The reporters conducted interviews with religious, political and
intellectual pilgrims from various places of origin, including Great Britain and
Brasil, and it intends to make known a vision of the actual reality of the
Santiago pilgrimage.
The interviewees include an Archbishop, msgr. Julian Barro, a Galician
intellectual, Francisco Fernando del Riego, the historian Ramon Izquierdo, the
British politician and writer, Michael Portillo, the President of the Association
of Friends of the Camino in Galicia, Anton Pombo, and several others,
including the hospitalera Pilar Armesto (of the San Xiraldo de Aurillac albergue
outside of O Cebreiro), the soccer coach Javier Irureta and convicts and
jail-keepers of a prison in Madrid.
The publication emphasizes the unique role of the Camino as a medium
of international, political, religious and cultural communication. It also
highlights the personal experiences and insights of each of the eighteen
interviewed pilgrims.

Warm regards,
Rosina
