Traveling During Political Unrest

The United States is not the only country with "unrest."

Lest we forget, Basque has been having problems long before most of us were around.
When I walked to Santiago two summers ago, I remember seeing a story about a car bomb in Pamplona, and thinking, I was just there!

The world really hasn't been at rest the past two thousand years, come to think of it, when ever has there been true rest. Yet, inspite of crusades, wars, rumors of wars, countless pilgrims from all faiths have continues to make their sacred journeys.

Those called to go on pilgrimage go with a zeal and fervor acknowledging fear and moving on.

When I went to Santiago in 2001, I also went to Ireland, Scotland, England, Israel, France. Which have not had their share, recently, of unrest. Even in Scotland, I landed two days after major race-riots. We just have to keep putting one foot in front of the other.

peace,
Michael Barham
