I'd also suggest St. Jean Pied-de-Port...it's a lovely walk over the
Pyrennees and into Spain.  You can get a bus from Logrono to Madrid without
problems, I'm sure.  The bus system is good in Spain.  Perhaps someone else
on the listserve has done so and can offer more specific suggestions.  Buen
