Bob,
If you are looking to save money and /or have a more intimate
experience while in Lourdes, I suggest the Maison St. Theresa. The rooms
are clean, some with private baths/showers and some with shared bath.
Three meals are included (room and board about $30 a night). You help
serve the meals and clean up. It is a 10 min. walk to the grotto. If
you need specifics--address and phone, let me know. We have stayed at
the Maison three years now and love it!

Hi Bob,
We've traveled from Paris to Lourdes on the train a couple of times.
It
is very easy. If you don't have a hotel yet, you might consider the
Imperial or Notre Dame de Sartres. To get to SJPP, you take the train
from Lourdes to Bayonne, then transfer to a train/bus (depends on
what's
running that day) from Bayonne to SJPP. There are two trains from
Lourdes. One leaves early in the morning (around 6)and gets you to
SJPP
about 10 am. The other gets you there in the afternoon. Enjoy
Lourdes.
It's a wonderful place to transition from the busy world to the
Camino.
