2002 Pilgrims

The Compostela magazine shows 21,354  pilgrims "compostelados" from European
countries other than Spain, but it does not classify them by country,
although such information is usually given in the monthly summaries.
The magazine does report one pilgrim commencing the pilgrimage in Hungary and
14 priests from Hungary celebrating Mass at the Cathedral. As a rule, Mass
celebrant priests make the pilgrimage if their health allows it.
I was impressed to read that the third largest number of foreign celebrant
priests (after Italy and Germany) was from the United States.
The classification "European countries" does include Russia and Finland.
