Foot Care

I made it all the way from Pamplona to Santiago without a single
blister.

I attribute my success to broken in hiking boots, combined with old
medieval tradition of sock rotation.

For hiking during the day, I used sockliners combined with medium weight
hiking socks.
Each day, promptly, upon arriving at my end destination I kicked off my
boots and changed into lightweight socks and TEVAs.

The crucial factor is keeping your feet as dry as possible at all times.
Sock liners wick away moisture from your feet.
Changing to TEVAs for the evening allows your boots to air out for a
longer period of time.

If all else fails, sacrifice a chicken to Ogou Balanjo.

I would appreciate any input on care of the feet from those who have
walked the Camino--especially pertaining to prevention. Beyond simply
choosing shoes that fit properly, what else is considered necessary?
Have any of you successfully avoided blisters, and if so, what
preventive measure(s) do you attribute it to?

Athletic shoes or boots? Have any of you tried both?

Thanks,

Melissa
