Foot advice

Jeff,
Johnson and Johnson markets a compeed product that comes under the name
"Advanced Healing Blister", or "Vite Gueri Pour les Ampoules" in the
bilinguality of the good folks to the north.
As an instructor of outdoor medicine ("wilderness medicine" we call it)
here's our take on blister care: (1) wash the area well with soap and water,
(2) with a sterile pin, knife blade, etc. create a hole large enough for
fluid to drain from the blister on the lower edge of said blister, (3)
squeeze the fluids out, (4) cover with your choice of blister
blocking/protecing agents. One idea is to use Second Skin over the blister
area and then moleskin around that as a way to prevent the blister area from
further friction. Taping the entire process to the foot (or wherever the
blister is) keeps it in place. The advantage of the J&J product is that it
goes on like a bandaid and stays well, often for several days at a time.
And I agree with Ana, better yet to use compeed on the hot spot before the
blister forms.
Buen Camino,
     Daniel
