For traveling in Sept/Oct are you finding that Gortex shoes or boots are important. I understand the Gortex is hotter on the feet and don't want to help the blisters in any way unless necessary. At this point I'm leaning toward some sort of running shoe without Gortex. I'll accept the wet feet during the in-frequent rains.
