Hi Brian,
The numbers given on the almanac are the average per year over the past five years.  I presume that the 1999 Jacobean Holy Year and the 2000 Roman Holy year may have increased the averages regarding Santiago and Rome.
As to the other places, the multitudes going to Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City and to Lourdes and Our Lady of Fatima are too well known to question the figures given.
