Pamploma to Burgos

I have a map of medieval pilgrimage routes in Spain. There are many!
However, it is the Camino Frances that is yellow-arrowed and blessed with
plentiful accommodation. After Compostela I went to Lugo and there was very
little accommodation - none in the old quarter near the cathedral, and only
a quality hotel in the restored section. And this is the provincial capital.
I visited Oviedo, the end point of the Via Plata and very important
repository of Spanish treasures. Practically no pilgrims were there, and the
city is not geared to look after them.
Treasures and wonders abound in Spain, and we can wander where we will, but
the pilgrim experience which draws us back is tightly bound with our fellows
on the road. For me, it is the French Way with its two starting points of
STPP or Roncesvalles, and Somport.
