Orthotics/Insoles

I'm wearing my third set of orthotics all made in a lab that my podiatrist
uses.  When I required each new pair,  she had me step into a special
styrofoam type mold form to capture the shape of my feet and then the
orthotics arrived at her office 10 days to 2 weeks later.  The part that is
on top is leather and the rest is sort of a rubber-like material.  From time
to time I have to have a minor adjustment that she can do herself to build up
a part at the bottom.

There is no brand name since they are by special order only.  Before I went
to the podiatrist, I tried commercially sold products like Dr. Scholl's, etc.
that are worthless.  It is like buying eyeglasses at the Kmart or Walgreen's
compared to going to an ophthalmologist to get a thorough eye exam and a
prescription for corrective a vision product.  Save your money and your feet.
I don't remember the exact cost in addition to the podiatrist's visit.

Orthotics are expensive, but well worth the price.  I sent my podiatrist a
postcard from the Camino thanking her for the newest pair and all the advice
she gave me about foot care.  Contact me off listserve if you are in or
around NYC and want her name.  Her office is in the Empire State Building.
