I didn't know

Greetings All,
I find all this talk about being included in books etc. quite odd. I
learned about the Camino through books and the lives of the pilgrims were
threads that brought a rich humanity to the journey. Even after reading all
sorts of entertaining glances - one minute episode out of someones life -
there are none that I particularly remember. It seems unusual to me to
worry about what might happen if someone were to write about you - I have
never given it any thought.
I am also a bit stunned at the focus on self. I have been reading emails on
this site for a few months while we prepare for our journey and I have to
keep reminding myself that this is a traditional religious pilgrimage. I
keep reminding myself of all the people who have made this journey over the
years with the motivation of honouring God through his servant James.
Surely we are not the centre of this event in our lives - we are only a tiny
piece of the history of this pilgrimage which people for centuries have made
in faith.
This is not a judgement on those who want to walk the camino for adventure
reasons - I believe that God calls us with irresistable an irresistible
force to make this journey - and His purposes for individuals called to walk
are for Him to know. I see it as a wonderful opportunity to meet people and
be connected to a wonderful historical tradition of faith.
Marion.
