traveling with children

just an observation, the few people who have written regarding this matter

have mentioned that much of the problem was the sleeping accomodation.

Perhaps staying at a hotel would be best or a youth hostel with private

rooms (if you go off season you can usually pay for a room in advance with a

credit card, I did that in Youth hostels in Scotland). And of course

skipping the highway part of the walk would be smart too. Maybe walking

from France would be too much for the first time around with a baby. I

actually think it is great that you want to make this trip with your child,

just work it so you cut out the pieces that make it too hard. Keep your

days short and your comfort level high. There has to be a way to do it,

just plan well! The pilgrimage seems to be for all including those with

children. Just be realistic about what is possible. Maybe if you do some

day hikes with the baby you can see what her issues will be (and yours!)and

be prepared. Good luck!
