Alan,
There is a wesite for Alsa (www.alsa.es) which is the big bus company. You
should be able to find a timetable there. I don't think there is train
service from Bilbao to Pamplona, but if there is, try renfe. Otherwise, my
understanding is that there is a tourist office right in the Bilbao airport.
Google provides some fairly good sites to explore. Try looking under Bilbao
transport.  It took a lot of effort, but I have found lots of info on the
city of Bilbao and how to escape from it (after seeing the Guggenheim, of
course!)
