I must admit when I read the above message this morning I gt quite annoyed -
as you will see from my previous message. Having calmed down, I started to
think about why the note and why it should affect me (and obviously others
in the list). I do not have an answer, but I was reminded of a travel
article I read last year about the camino, which wasw quite informative but
also amusing. The opening paragraph is worth repeatinhg here, and is as
follows:

"IF there's one thing you'll learn, as you drag your sore tendons and
blistered feet another kilometre across the sadistically hilly north
Spanish countryside, it's that you don't need to be religious to make a
pilgrimage but that doesn't stop you from doing your fair share of praying.
You pray that it'll stop raining so you can get your socks dry, you pray
that the next hill has a built-in escalator and you pray for divine
intervention to find you a spare, clean bunk at the undoubtedly crowded
refuge which you also pray is just around the next bend.
You might also pray for illumination as to why you're spending six weeks of
your precious life traversing the northern climes of the Iberian Peninsula
on foot, in the rain, with a straggling array of foreigners when you could
be at home with a strong cup of tea and a good book."

Happy walking
Joe
