Should we stay or should we go?

Ida-

I cancelled my trip, coincidentally formerly scheduled
for the 24th of this month, to Madrid via Detroit and
Amsterdam (KLM). I had purposely set aside all of
October to make my trek, so you can imagine how much I
agonized over this.

While the experience of walking the camino may be
unparalleled, transformative etc and entirely worth
the rigamarole of international travel right now, I do
think that it is inevitable that something else will
occur in the next month--retaliation from the US &
NATO, more attacks, whatever. Decide for yourself if
you think you might carry your worries about the
current situation along with you, and if that might
interfere with your experience. Personally, my peace
of mind and readiness for this journey evaporated on
Tuesday...

My main concern in cancelling was that I feared not
being able to get home quickly, to re-enter the US,
due to cancellations or precautions, etc. To some,
this may be a ridiculous concern, but quite honestly,
if things begin to happen, I'd rather be at home.

I hope my message doesn't make you more paranoid. I
see that most people on the list say it's fine to go.
And it probably is. But, at the very least, know that
you're not alone in this decision-making.

Chris
