Bunuel Film

Howard, re: the Bunuel film "La Voie Lactee" I went to see it at the
Alliance Francaise here in New York about 15 years ago and walked out about
3/4 of the way through. I rarely walk out on a movie. I guess I was
offended by the sacrilegiousness of the film, but also I found the
characters very unlikable and unsympathetic. As you say, it was not very
relevant to the experience of the pilgrimage nor to any understanding of it.
Bunuel *is* anti-religious and anti-spiritual and as I remember, the film
came across as being more like an anti-Catholic propaganda film for the
Communist Party (I do believe that I read Bunuel was a member of the
Communist Party). Some people may find aspects of the film interesting. If
I saw it again now, knowing what I know up front, I might even be able to
watch it. Actually, Howard, you've got me curious. I'm wondering if it was
as bad as I remember.

Peace,
Preston
