Side trips

As for side trips -- remember the great mystics coming out of spain --
Ignatius, Teresa de Jesus (Avila), John of the Cross, Luis de Leon, Luis de
Grenada, and COUNTLESS others.  I say, if you are doing the pilgrimage for
spiritual reasons, not only visiting places these saints lived/died is a
great idea, but also picking up copies of their works, many available in
English translations.


These aren't all exactly on the trail, but if you have time to flut about
spain awhile after or before the hike, I recommend praying at some of these
places.
