First to thank mjcanderson for the helpful annotation on the puzzle over the
actual familial relationships between the two Jameses and Jesus.
It might be of interest in the James variables to note that "James"
translates "Jacobus" (in Greek), so it is actually the name Jacob--a
relatively common Hebrew name, since it is the name of one of the
patriarchs. "Mary" isour translation of the Greek version of "Miriam"--also
a popular name, since she was the sister of Moses. So in a sense it is not
surprising that these names proliferate.
