Hi again Madelyn,

Even though you now know hostales are not the same as
hostels, you may want to consider getting a hostel
card anyway. Hosteling International is the umbrella
organization and no, age doesn't matter anymore except
in Bavaria, Germany (for some strange reason there you
still have to be under 26) and many, many people still
hostel. I never had to use mine on the Camino and as a
mater of fact, I never did find out where the hostels
were. But check in your phone book under "Hosteling
International" (there might be two "l's" in
hostelling) or "American Youth Hostels" or just
"Hostels" to see where your local organization is.
Most cities have a branch. When you join, they'll give
you info. and you can buy a current list of all
registered hostels in Europe, as well.
