Return?

I just finished reading Pilgrim Stories by Nancy Frey, and she devotes a
whole chapter to the topic of how people feel about finishing the
pilgrimmage and returning to "real life." It's quite interesting reading.

I myself had a somewhat similar experience twelve years ago. That summer, I
spent a month biking 1,200 miles from Williamsburg, VA to Carbondale, IL on
the Trans-America Trail. I really hated having to box up the bike and go
home. While it wasn't the Camino de Santiago, with all the history and
culture that goes along with it, it was quite a trip.

Most of the group I was riding with continued across country and arrived in
Portland, OR two months later. A couple of people in that group couldn't
face life off the road and biked down to San Francisco from there.
