walking stick

My husband and I bought Leki telescoping titanium spring-loaded high tech
walking sticks for the Camino trip, and we were very glad we did. They
weren't "traditional," they weren't "found along the way" or "given as a
gift"--all ways people will describe the proper stick! But they were
convenient, easy to hook onto the backpack if I didn't want to use it, and
the spring-loaded "give" in the stick helped ease the shock of repetitive
motion to my shoulder.
