There are public phones everywhere.  Get yourself 100 peseta coins and feed
them to the phone (500 to begin a transcontinental call, (bout $3.20), then
dial 001 and your area code and number;  a little screen on the phone will
tell you how much you have used up.  If you want to talk some more just put
in more 100 peseta coins.
The public phones are the least expensive and, better yet, the most
accessible.
