Many US bank cards (most?) have 4 digit pins.  The banks usually give them
out with letter combinations, but those can easily be converted to numbers.
Just go to a bank machine in the US and convert the letters on the kwyboard
into the number on the same key.  We bank at a very small institution, and
only once, in France, have I been unable to use the card converting my pin
from letters into numbers.  I have used it in most West European countries,
Mexico, most of South America, as well as Thailand, Japan, Singapore, and
Malaysia.  All of the banks with branches along the camino accepted it.
