He’s older than me, and I’m 74 (with only 360 miles left to go!) </span></font></div><div style="margin:0px"><font face="Helvetica"><span style="font-size:15px"><br></span></font></div><div style="margin:0px"><font face="Helvetica"><span style="font-size:15px">Ten years ago, my spouse gave him a ride back to his vehicle when he was day hiking the Seiad Valley climb DOWN hill and I — not wanting to miss out on something that everyone talks about!!! — was, in my more youthful vigor, day hiking it UP hill. Five years ago he got me a ride from SD to Campo, and then picked me up at PVC 152 miles later.</span></font></div><div style="margin:0px"><span style="font-size:15px;font-family:Helvetica"><br></span></div><div style="margin:0px"><font face="Helvetica"><span style="font-size:15px">Last Friday, he arranged to pick up my thru hiker daughter Annie/Gazelle at PVC and get her back to SD after she hiked from KMS. She’s abandoning the desert with the heat coming on and the rest of her permit is southbound from Stevens Pass, so she won’t be starting far from our home in Spokane.</span></font></div><div style="margin:0px"><font face="Helvetica"><span style="font-size:15px"><br></span></font></div><div style="margin:0px"><font face="Helvetica"><span style="font-size:15px">Long story short — when I found out that Rob had only 14 1/2 miles left, but didn’t know anyone in the Walker Pass area, I said I’d introduce him to a wonderful Trail Angel from Inyokern who could take him to the trail and pick him up.</span></font></div><div style="margin:0px"><font face="Helvetica"><span style="font-size:15px"><br></span></font></div><div style="margin:0px"><font face="Helvetica"><span style="font-size:15px">BUT — I can’t find any information on Far Out about the dirt road that goes from some paved road or other up to Yellow Jacket springs near mile 639. Rob needs to hike from there north to Walker Pass. Does anyone know what road that is and how to get there?
