Porting and Validation!

Hi ,
       I am a new member of the list. I am intersted in Numerical Analysis
aspects which specially deal with floating-point arithmetic. My recent
experience with porting a Weather model on SUN Workstations showed some
interesting features. The Weather model originally ran on CRAY-YMP.
The results of the simulations exhibit significant deviations.I have
checked for the correctness of the code(qualitively verying the
simulations). My suspicision is the difference in floating-point
arithmetic between these two architectures which may be amplified by the 
sensitivity of the Weather model. 

 To confirm the sensitivity of the model, i ran the model in various
IEEE-rounding modes . The simulations exhibited significant deviations

 I would like to know about your experiences on this type of problem. Your
suggestions are most welcome.
