<DIV> I "did" the Camino in stages first. I discovered it while driving a van, went back and walked from Leon to Santiago, then finally, in 2001, walked from Roncesvalles "all the way."
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>I think the first two goes only whetted my apetite for doing it all, and provided impetus needed to re-arrange my life to make six weeks available. </DIV>
<DIV>That "all the way" is one of the high points of my life. </DIV>
<DIV>One strange phenomenon was how unrecognizable the camino was west of Leon. I'd been on that same stretch before, but the experience was brand-new, with only an occasional deje-vu vibe cropping up now and then. </DIV>
<DIV>Lots of people do the camino over and over, but I don't think I will unless I walk the Primitivo or Via de la Plata or some other path to Santiago. </DIV>
<DIV>Like they say: "you can't go home again." </DIV>
