Doesn't one's e-address appear automatically on the messages?
I think it must, since many messages have been sent to me directly already. At any rate, mine is : Blaroliaaol.com
When the GOCAMINO list was down, some months ago, many subscribers to it wrote to me directly asking what was happening to the list (I didn't know). In response to those messages, and bereft of a list-serv, I offered to pass on Camino information that I might learn about directly to those who wrote me those messages; I did so until the GOCAMINO servlist became operative again. When we got the very sad news about the impending demise of the GOCAMINO list, I offered to continue to pass on information, as I had done before, until a new list-serv was formed (preferably on the GOCAMINO model).
I am most decidedly not a techie.... far from it. I do not have, and absolutely never shall have, a Web site or anything of the sort. My offer was, and is, a pilgrim-to-pilgrim personal effort of communication in a rather informal way, and I shall certainly be happy to pass on whatever I learn about the Camino in such a manner if it becomes necessary.
Most happily, it does appear that a GOCAMINO Jr. list-serv is being readied, with the support of the recognized, known, respected and formally organized "American Pilgrms on the Camino" group. I expect that we shall be hearing from them in this respect very shortly. (That's the group that holds pilgrim reunions in Santa Barbara).
I heartily concur with Ana Young in that those of us who inhabit the American Continent may have practical, and different, needs and views of our own when we contemplate a Camino pilgrimage; hence, an American-based listserv is quite desirable. Besides, just as we may learn a little something about our European fellow pilgrims through their listservs they may learn a little something about us from ours. Isn't that what the Camino is , and has always been, all about?
Hopefully, the new list will be up and running soon. If not, I shall certainly pass on whatever worthwhile Camino information comes my way.
Warm regards,
