Emergencies Foundation "061" will issue a medical care card specifically for use
by pilgrims on their way to Santiago. The purpose is to insure that all pilgrims
will have medical coverage while on the Camino.<BR>Pilgrims commencing the
pilgrimage should request, and get, the card from those centers issuing
pilgrims' credentials. Reportedly, pilgrims will be identified and data will be
collected regarding specific medical needs (allergies, required medication,
etc.) which will be stored in the Coordination Office of the "061" for use
of the medical personnel in the Camino should the need for such information
arise.<BR>Further, there will be a new medical center for the care of pilgrims
at Monte del Gozo and another at the Xoan XXIII center of Santiago.<BR><BR>The
Galician Federation of Consumers has begun to conduct inspections throughout the
various routes of the Camino to ensure that restaurants and hotels adhere
to the prices officially approved, and to insure that productfs, etc., are not
misrepresented. Pilgrims are urged to register complaints.<BR><BR>The
Municipality of Calahorra has announced a Camino literary contest and a Camino
Photographic contest.<BR>Entries should be sent

Spain<BR>The literary contest consist of short Camino-related, original,
stories. The originals may be in any language, but must be translated into
Spanish. The works should comprise between 5 and 8 pages DIN A4 Y (?),
typed, double spaced and stapled on the left margin. The title of
the piece should appear on the top of each page. <BR>Together with the entry a
sealed enveloped containing the name, address, telephone, fax and e-mail of the
author should be included, as well as a declaration that the entry is an
original work and has not been a prize winner in any other contest. The
envelope with these facts should be sealed and marked on the outside with the
name of the piece.<BR>The first prize is 500 euros, the second 300 and the third
200.<BR><BR>Contestants for the photographic contest, entitled "El Camino
Xacobeo del Ebro", can send three 18 x 24 cms. or 30 x 40 cms. black and white
or color photographs; the photos should bear a title and should be
accompanied by a sealed envelope, as described above, bearing on the
outside the titles (s of the photos. The first prize shall be 300 euros, the
second 200 and the third 100.,<BR><BR>The deadline to submit entries for both
contests is September 30, 2004.<BR><BR>Camino in watercolors. Sanguesa is
holding a dramatically successful exhibition of watercolors sponsored by the
Community of Benedictine monks. The exhibition has received the highest
praise from artists and art lovers as depicting the Camino in a simple and
realistic manner that expresses the feelings of being a pilgrim. The works
of art have now been published in a book called "Diario de un Peregrino" (A
pilgrim's Diary) which may be obtained at the site of the exhibition, the Casa
de Cultura de Sanguesa (Navarra), or inquiries may be made by sending a message
