What, precisely, are the "mistakes, errors and cultural misunderstandings" that you found in the New York Times Camino article?
Given the constraints of space, and the purpose and audience for which the article was intended ( U.S.A. potential travelers with little or no knowledge of the Camino), I though that the report was well written, balanced, fair and informative.
After all, the article appeared iun the separate "Travel" section of the Sunday Times, and it would appear that its first impression rendering has been quite successful: The Galicians that own a (very fine) Spanish restaurant on my block have told me that their customers have besieged them with inquiries about the Camino since the article appeared.
p.s. for New Yorkers: the restaurant is called "El Charro" and is located at 4 Charles Street in the Village. Those of us who have been going there for decades cherish it.
