<P> You mention camping out in your plan. Are there camping sites that are for or even admit hikers? I've just spent four months some in the loire valley -- largely blois and tours -- and my experience is largely with auberges de jeunesse and foyers de jeune travailleurs. I write and therefore spent longer periods in one place.</P>

<P> The "campings" i saw charged for a vehicle plus so much per occupant. You had to have a vehicle. The campings tended to be much more elaborate, even elegant, than the quiet enough, safe place i'd like. Do the police permit random camping? Beside your brest-nantes towpath, for example? Do you or anyone else know? I seem to remember people camping by the loire at amboise, but at least some in the maudits vehicles.

<P> Then there is the question of location of the maybe yes, maybe no campings. My experience is that campings -- and auberges, etc. -- are often inconveniently located from the standpoint of progress, pilgrim's or other. In short, are there any on or near (+/-30minutes) the path itself. Of course, there're also the gites. The most frugal strategy would be to alternate various layovers according to location.

<P> Another question comes to mind immediately. Is there any organization that issues pilgrim passes in england and/or your proposed route. I know, friends does, but i'm planning to leave Baton Rouge in a week to ten days and that's not enough time for the mail back and forth. Moreover, judging by what people on the site have written, things are slow. It's always best to have some sort of sponsorship documentation especially in these times.
