I love hearing stick stories! Maybe the previous owner of your newly found stick no longer needed it, or maybe it was never really intended for them, but for you. Maybe they just carried it to a place where it would be easily found by you. In any event, I think you found the right stick for your journey.
When I walked, I carried a Leki which was a fine thing. But I have to admit to missing the feel of wood in my hand, as I have a staff that I've used for local walks for many years. There were times that I saw sticks on the side of the path that looked pretty inviting. I remember on the way from Villafranca to Cebreiro I saw a man who had carved walking sticks into great swirls and spirals. They were just too cool! But I didn't have enough cash on me so I had topass them up. If he's there next time, I will surely buy one.
Anyone else with interesting walking stick stories?
