<P>There is a matter of personal tastes and goals in recommending a "best" season, but my recommendation would be autumn. I walked the Camino in Sept-Oct in 1998 and again in 2001, and the weather was decent most of the time. This year only one day of heavy rain made walking uncomfortable, from Villafranca to O Cebreiro, and the weather from Triacastela onward was beautiful. The Camino beyond Burgos was not crowded (it was a little crowded between Puente la Reina and Burgos) so autumn proved a perfect time to take leisurely walking days without worrying about albergue space. Most of the albergues remain open through October. </P>
