Photocopy the
pages into packets that you can throw away as you walk. To minimize the
amount of packets in your bag, mail portions to the post office of major
cities, the same way that you can mail things to yourself in Santiago. As
you pass through the cities you can pick up the portions for the next part
of your walk.
Maria
PS-if your looking for a small book to take with, may I suggest ours My
father, My daughter, that is quite compact. We
>also just returned from five weeks on the Camino where word had it that its
>aerial shots were invaluable to the walking pilgrim. Where did you get your
>copy? American bookstores and web sites draw a blank.
> By the way, like others we have completed the Camino with a greater
>thirst than ever to learn more about the history and culture of the land we
>just walked. I remember one evening at the refugio in Los Arcos looking
>wistfully at the person in the next bunk who was reading David Gitlitz and
>Linda Davidson's "Santiago: The Complete Cultural Handbook" - learning the
>details of what she had seen that day. The trouble is, it is a medium sized
>book. It weighs. For this reason we left it behind and are now reading it
>with amazement. Linda, have you and David ever considered publishing an
>abbreviated 'handbook' that is backpack friendly? I imagine there would be
>great demand ... and appreciation.
> Channing
>
>----- Original Message -----
>From: "Barry Evans" <barryevans9aYAHOO.COM>
>To: <GOCAMINOapete.uri.edu>
>Sent: Wednesday, October 17, 2001 12:15 PM
>Subject: Best guide!
>
>
>> ...or would be if it was lighter.
>> I haven't been keeping up with the postings here,
>> so pardon if this has already been said but the
>>
>> Aeroguia del Camino de Santiago
>>
>> is a wonderful book, covers St Jean to Santiago
>> 4K at a time with sharp aerial photos (looking in
>> the direction you're going), just superb.
