A number of the refugios do close sometime after the 1st of November. For example, the CSJ refugio in Rabanal closes at the end of the month, the refugio at Navarette will not have hospitaleros and may close, and several other albergues I have stayed in have indicated they do not stay open all winter, including most of the ones on the Camino Aragonese from Somport/Jaca to Puente la Reina. It looks as if some albergue will be open in virtually every town on the Camino Frances, but if there is more than one in a town, only one (or even a winter substitute refugio) will stay open. You would do well to check with the tourist offices, especially the ones in Burgos and Leon, as they seem to have current information.
