I have a pair of Lekis that have served me on numerous hikes on 4 continents over the past 5 years, and I find it hard to travel without them. They are wonderful supports, light, and, because they collapse, easy to pack. I strongly reccomend them both for hiking support and as a threat to stray dogs; most dogs cower at the sight of a pole/staff. REI sells their own brand, made by Leki, and those are a little cheaper. Other sporting goods/outdoor stores probably sell them under local brand names as well.
