[Gocamino] Railway line Bayonne to St Jean Pied de Port.

Hi,
     Some of you may already know that the line from Bayonne to SJPdP 
suffered serious damage as the result of a massive storm and flood over 
the night of 4/5th July last year.  The river Nive, normally placid at 
that time of year, rose from a gentle trickle of 15 cu metres per second 
to 800 cu metres per second.  The line was seriously damaged, both track 
and bridges and many of us feared the cost would be so great that it 
would never be repaired.

This, happily turns out not to be the case, SNCF and it's contractors 
are not hard at work restoring and improving the line. At a cost of €40 
million we will have an improved service completed by the end of October 
this year.

This may not be of great benefit to those of you wanting to travel this 
year, but the service is still running as a bus service and this 
restoration project speaks volumes for the confidence shown by the 
authorities in the importance of transport connections to St Jean Pied 
de Port.

GoCamino our best wishes for 2015.
