... or even three days, according to a guidebook I have.  BUT, I understand reservations are needed at those places beforehand, so hikers should have the phone numbers of these places written down.

One important item was omitted. On either route there is the option of taking 
two days to get over the pass. The one really strong objection to starting from 
SJdePP is that  going all the way to Roncevaux on the first day is far too much 
for inexperienced hikers. And, of  course, it is not necessary nowadays. There 
is excellent accommodation along the way on both routes.
