Typical daily fare from Astorga to Santiago:

City                         KM Left

Astorga                        258.7

Rabanal del Camino             238.1

Ponferrada                     205.4

Villafranca del Bierzo         183.0

O Cebreiro                     153.0

Triacastela                    132.4

Sarria                         113.8

Portomarín                      91.8

Palas de Rei                    67.3

Melide                          52.5

O Pino                          20.1

Santiago                         0.0

One of my favorite parts of the Frances is the trek over the Montes de Leon, from Astorga to Ponferrada. Pure Magic.

Astorga, Ponferrada, Villafranca del Bierzo, O Cebreiro and Sarria are all well-represented with transportation options.

Villafranca del Bierzo and O Cebreiro are via bus only, while Astorga, Ponferrada and Sarria are bus or train.

For shorter bus routes, consider going first to Santiago, then bus back as far as O Cebreiro (search for Piedrafita or Pedrafita).

Buen Camino,

Grant
