Thanks Rosina - this will be a huge help to pilgrims and will make the route from Muxia to Santiago (for which a compostela is awarded) even more popular. It will also encourage more pilgrims to Finisterre to venture round the coast to this beautiful fishing village which claims to be "the end of the religious pilgrimage".

I've sent you the picture directly. Please let me know if you get it.
Crossing those old slabs indeed looks daunting. I would have only attempted it, if at all, in all fours, or through the kindness and help of strangers,

Thank you so much Rosina!!!!!
I look forward to using that bridge in a few months....those stones were a bit too exciting for me.  I used the stones when they were covered with water and slippery moss, my heart was pounding the whole time.

Hi Glenn and all,
You'll be happy[y to know that, while not completely finished, the Vaosilveiro bridge over the Rio Castro is already in use. The jurisdictional Culture Council informed that the recent swellings of the river had interrupted the work, but that the entire project will be fully completed in February. The stone bridge is missing only the side guards and the finishing touches at both ends.
The president of the Galician Association of Friends of the Camino, Jose Antonio de la Riera, has been pressing the construction of the bridge for some years at the urging of scores of pilgrims. . A couple of days ago he, and the mayors of Muxia and of Cee, Felix Porto  and Ramon Vigo, expressed their satisfaction over the completion and utility of the bridge. The inhabitants of nearby Lires, however,  continue to insist that the new bridge be fitted to accommodate cars as well.
Oh well! Can't please everybody, I suppose.
Hugs!
Rosina

There was talk a couple of years ago about the Xunta building a bridge over the
Rio Castro crossing near Lires which would replace those stepping stones that
can add a bit real adventure during high water.

Was it ever built?
