Hi all,
To that list I would like to add The Camino Documentary
<http://caminodocumentary.org/film.jsp> which is being made for the
Public Free TV channels in the USA. Some of the crew stayed with me
this spring and I understand that the film will be released early in the
coming year.
Regards
Tim

>The name of the book is "I'm off then, (Losing and Finding Mysef in the Camino de Santiago)" and it was written by Hape Kerkeling, a popular?TV humorist and commentator in Germany who is much followed?in other German-speaking and Scandinavian countries. Its author has stated that he did not set out to write the book; that he was overweight, depressed and almost paralyzed by ennui when he picked up, by chance, a book about the Camino at a book store and, on a lark, decided to make the pilgrimage. He has said that, as it?is his wont in his collecting of materials for his TV shows, he kept a diary, and that the diary eventually became the book.

It reads like an ordinary voice, warts and all, ?that has become surprised, healed and strengthened by the unexpected forces and graces?imbuing the Camino and their influence on those hearts and minds that open to them.?? That is probably one the reasons for the book's?enormous success.?

>The claim of 10 million copies sold does not seem exaggerated. I just returned from the Wagner Festival in Bayreuth, Germany, and while in that country I went to several book stores and, out of curiosity, I asked about the book.?Many of the stores were sold out of it and were expecting a fresh supply.

>When I was in Vienna last June I mentioned the abundance of Camino calendars there, including those little ones from which the pages can be torn and used as bookmarks. But in addition to those, in Germany there are calendars in the bookstores dedicated to the fact that next year is a Xacobean Holy Year, There is one, about the size of an ordinary sheet of paper when closed, that? is called "Der Jakobsweg 2010. Der Kalender zum Heiligen Jahr" (The Camino 2010. The calendar of the Holy Year) ?that has particularly touching and emotionally evocative pictures. Each month page has some?Camino writing, which, unfortunately for me, are all in German and beyond my understanding, but the pictures tug at the heart. Maybe some techie wizard can post the pictures here for all to see.
