Hello,
Yes, there is an astronaut engraved on the outside door frame one of the main door of the new Cathedral in Salamanca.  It is about 25 inches in length and it is located on the left side of the door, as you go in, about  one fourth of the top of the door.  It, and all the other marvelous engravings are carved of some pink constone. Some of the figures are whimsical, and much sought after by visitors, such as the figure eating an ice-cream cone.
In the old Cathedral, which abuts the new one sharing a wall, nothing is less than 700 or 800 years old. The retablo at the altar is reputed to be the most magnificent and beautiful anywhere, and, indeed, it does take your breath away.
One enters the old Cathedral through a tiny, unobtrusive little door in a corner of the new one.
The entire city of Salamanca is an endless  treasure trove of wonders.
