[Gocamino] Matajudios????

My observation of two signs outside of Castrojeriz and sharing them with all of you, has provided me with a lot of interesting recommendations for reading, and things to ponder.  I did not want to start a controversy, the signs were just shocking to me after several weeks of living in harmony with people of many nations, many of whom were bitter enemies in recent history.
I was not aware that some Jews financed Muslim aggression.  I myself became a pacifist, after serving 4 years in the service of the United States armed forces some 40 years ago, but I still do not see any reason to persecute an entire group of people because of the actions of a few.  I would also add that going into the armed services, I was a devout Christian.  After seeing how the Chaplain Corp white washed some of the things that were going on, I totally withdrew from religion for many years, finally settling with the Quakers.
I would not have been so disturbed if, instead of having an information board telling of the plants in the area, if they would have told about the history of the name, and in some way, recognized that a wrong was perpetrated.
All nations have done horrible wrongs, including my the USA, and have attempted to justify them by all sorts of means.  World powers, including the institutional church(es), have a difficult time owning up to their wrongs...and using the churches' own terminology, repent.
The only way we are going to improve the situation and avoid these horrible actions that destroy lives on a great scale, is to recognize them, and acknowledge them, not try to justify them.
