Pope Benedict XVI sent his first personal text message to WYD pilgrims
yesterday prior to Mass. It read:

"Young friend, God & his people expect much from u, because u have within u
the Father's supreme gift: the Spirit of Jesus - BXVI."

26 Cardinals and 400 Bishops were in attendance at the Opening Mass
celebrated by Cardinal George Pell last night. The estimated attendance this
morning was approximately 150,000.
